Closure of the hospital in Shell

This was the October 7 cover of El Comercio, one of the national papers here in Ecuador.

"Concern in Shell over the closure of hospital Vozandes".

Due to a number of reasons, HCJB Global has decided to run only out-patient service beginning October 1 and closing the hospital completely as of December 31.

If you want to read the articles on the closure, you can look them up on www.elcomercio.com.ec

Nick Vujicic

October 6 we had the opportunity to see Nick Vujicic here in Quito. What an incredible testimonty to God's work in the heart of man.

If you've never heard of him or never heard his testimony, he was born without arms and legs.

You can see some of his testimony and life's experiences on YouTube.

We went to see him as a family and as the photo shows, the coliseum was packed. He was an encouragement to us, showing that in spite of the obstacles, the pain and the hardship, we can have joy if we place our faith in Jesus!

Hot weather

We've been having a fairly lengthy time of hot, dry weather with a lot of wind. Perfect conditions for fires.

Sunday, we came out from church and saw this big blaze in Metropolitan Park. By the time they had it mostly under control, late into the night, it had burned about 20 hecters.

They were commenting on the news last night that the blazes keep popping up.

Unfortunately, it appears that this fire was deliberately started.

First photo is taken from HCJB. The second is from the roof of our house.

The virtual fridge...

Joshua watched a video about how to draw two of the characters from Veggie Tales - Lord of the Beans (which is quite funny!).

He then proceeded to draw the characters. They turned out very well. He's got more talent drawing than I do!

The first character is Jerry Gourd in the role of "the other elf".

The second character is Junior Asparagus playing the role of "Toto Baggypants".

Snow White

This is from the last school year, but I forgot to post it earlier.

Here is Joel in his role as the mirror in ANAN's presentation of Snow White.

He has really enjoyed being in the plays and as his first choice for extra-ciricular activities this year he chose "theater". I think he will enjoy it1

A day in the park

It's been a good summer and we were able to do a number of activities without going very far from home.

Going to one of the many parks here in Quito was a favourite activity.

Carolina Park is one of the biggest park in Quito.

The virtual fridge...

Lately Joshua has been hit with the painting bug.

Here are two of his latest creations. A british soldier and the Titanic hitting the iceberg.
