Manger scenes...

The hospital has a competition every year for the best manger scene using materials from the workplace.

This year, the general theme seemed to be "green", as in environmentaly friendly. Pretty much everything was reused from their respective areas.

Here are some photos of the setups that we judged.

Paintball!

At Mision Compartida, there was a booth for paintball guns. Of course, Joshua saw this and immediately wanted to try it.

They both enjoyed shooting their allotment of paintballs at the provided targets!

Mision Compartida

Starting Friday and ending today (Sunday, December 13-15), HCJB FM and AM held their Mision Compartida (Shared Mission radiothon) to raise support for thcoming year.

It is a time for the public to express their testimonies of how God has used the radio station to touch their lives.
How they express their testimonies and gratitude can take many forms.

There are many wonderful testimonies of God changing and healing lives, both physically and spiritually.

There are many who are grateful for their "church" and they bring livestock to help with the needs of the station.

Others doante money while they are there, or pledge to give monthly throughout the year.

Others volunteer their time to help during the event.

In many ways, people come to tegether to support "thier" radio station. "Heralding Christ Jesus Blessings", HCJB.

Sports day

November 23 was sports day at the boys' school. I'm not sure how it happened, but both of them were chosen by their respective classes to be the mascots for their teams.

Which of course, meant two costumes.

Joshua was a Puffle. Don't worry if you don't know what that is. It helps to have kids in this age range! Club Penguin is an on-line game area and the puffle is a costume for the penguins. (My boys will correct me if this description is incorrect. :-)

The mascot for Joel's team was a tree.

Both of them turned out very well. Later we learned that the father of two boys at the school (one is a classmate of Joshua and the other boy is a classmate of Joel) designs costumes! If only I had known!

Closure of the hospital in Shell

This was the October 7 cover of El Comercio, one of the national papers here in Ecuador.

"Concern in Shell over the closure of hospital Vozandes".

Due to a number of reasons, HCJB Global has decided to run only out-patient service beginning October 1 and closing the hospital completely as of December 31.

If you want to read the articles on the closure, you can look them up on www.elcomercio.com.ec

Nick Vujicic

October 6 we had the opportunity to see Nick Vujicic here in Quito. What an incredible testimonty to God's work in the heart of man.

If you've never heard of him or never heard his testimony, he was born without arms and legs.

You can see some of his testimony and life's experiences on YouTube.

We went to see him as a family and as the photo shows, the coliseum was packed. He was an encouragement to us, showing that in spite of the obstacles, the pain and the hardship, we can have joy if we place our faith in Jesus!
