Finally...

I started building these beds two years ago when Joel was going to be graduating from the crib to a "big boys'" bed. It was a lot of fun work and I was able to have the basic beds done for January 2, 2008, and the boys enjoyed them.

There just didn't seem to be a rush to finish the bunkbed parts as we had space in their room for both beds and we weren't going anywhere. This summer when we learned that we might need to move out of our current home, I decided it was time to finish them.

For the last few weeks of the project, Joshua kept asking about the beds that I was making. He also kept offering to help. So, when I brought the pieces home to assemble, both boys were there to help.

As you can see, they are very safety concious and they both were wearing their hardhats.

Finally, the beds were assembled and they could try them out. It was a bit of an adjustment for both of them to sleep in the new configuration, but both were very pleased.

The next day, they both spent the morning climbing into and out of the bed and playing on the top bunk.

The good news is that now their room has considerably more space.
